Licensing Policy

The PostgreSQL project is licensed by the University of California at Berkeley under a BSD style license that allows anyone to modify the software and/or the license.

LINUX & FreeBSD
For Linux environments, the dbExperts license allows for free use and distribution of the software. The user can use the same CD to install as many copies as he likes in any Linux / FreeBSD servers, provided he does not duplicate the CD or create distributions derived from the CD.

Windows & Mac OS X
For Windows & Mac OS X systems, only one license is allowed for installation per machine that acts as a server. If the user has two servers, he will need two separate licenses. There is no limit to the number of local workstations or Internet users that access the server simultaneously. The dbExperts PostgreSQL for Windows and Mac OS X will support virtually an unlimited number of concurrent connections to the same server.
